Argentina’s Champions Trophy final game on Sunday saw 10 red cards given out by Qatar World Cup-bound referee Facundo Tello.
The Boca Juniors players were enraged at Alcaraz’s prolonged celebration in front of the opposing team’s supporters, as seen by video of them grabbing Alcaraz by the ear and hurling a ball at him.
This came after Carlos Alcaraz, a player for Racing Club, started a brawl in front of the Boca Juniors supporters after scoring the game-winning goal.
In the last minutes of extra time, with the score at 1-1, Alcaraz headed a goal into the corner of the goal to give Racing Club the victory.
After the altercations, Tello, one of the referees at the World Cup in Qatar, dismissed Alcaraz and issued 5 red cards to Boca Juniors players.
Over the period of the game, Boca Juniors players received a total of seven red cards, while Racing Club players received three.
